Wilsons popularity grew across the United Kingdom in 2014. The actress starred as Alison Lockhart in Showtimes The Affair as a character with dark secrets who falls in the love of Noah Solloway. Wilson received a Golden Globe in 2015 for Best Actress, Television Series Drama. The series also starred Maura Terney as well as Joshua Jackson. Wilson spoke to British Vogue earlier in the year told British Vogue that she loved being able to play characters with two different perspective. Noah believes that Alison to be this confident reckless sexy version of herself. Yet she views her self in a different manner, as someone who is timid and unattractive on the inside. Wilson added that she does believe that America is so moralistic and judgmental that the stuff that takes place in the show appears to be a shock. Wilson has since left the show in shock for the fans. But Wilson spoke in a very vague manner about further information. During an interview on CBS This Morning Interview in August, 2018, Wilson admitted, "I did want to quit, but I'm unable to speak about the reasons for it." Wilson has now turned her attention to film. In 2016 she starred in the horror flick I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House and, in 2017, she as the mysterious PT Stella in the sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. To add to her list of horror films, Wilson will also star in the British film adaptation of The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller was adapted from the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson directs the production.
